Every friday at the National Gallery in London is provided a few materials so you can observe the paintings and make a drawing. It is very funny, I’ve almost tried last time I was in England. You can click here and see the schedule of the days, rooms and hours available. It is awesome the way that the museum encourage the arts, at the museum shop you can also buy different types of painting materials.
“Join an artist and lecturer to explore a painting in two different ways. First, listen to a short talk, then make your own response by making a drawing with the materials provided.”
Konstantin Razumov was a pupil at Ilya Glazounov’s Academy, where he specialised in History painting and achieved a great success. A young and talented artist, he has painted all kinds of subjects, from nudes to landscapes. His bright colours, the smoothness of the skin in his nudes, the expressive features of his characters, distinguish his paintings. Razumov has a vibrant shimmering brushstroke plus a mastery of light and excellent draftmanship. Faithful to early Impressionism, he nonetheless adds some modern touches which are most obvious in his beautiful charming nudes, soft and sensuous. Razumov is at his graceful best when his subjects are young ladies. He has always been our tip to attain greatness and is a very fine young artist.
17 yeas ago, in Bedfordshire, England was born a genius. A girl who is such a creative and gifted person, her drawings are special and beautifully drawn. It is a honour to post about her and be able to ask her personally by tumblr.
Currently she is studying Fine Art, English Literature, Maths and Chemistry at A level.
According to Emily “In terms of what I choose to draw, it is pretty much whatever I feel like drawing. Tumblr is such a great creative resource and if you ever run dry on ideas, research some good tumblr websites and find photographs or quotes of anything that takes your fancy. I usually use collaboration of images when I want to draw something with precision. But I usually just find an image and alter it with my imagination. I am looking into creating prints and selling my artwork, if you are interested please keep following and I will update you when I know a bit more.”
To find her artwork check-out her tumblr ! You won’t regret it !
The great artist. I discovered him a few weeks ago and I’m surprised I never heard of his work before, and not because he worked with Van Gogh, but because he is impressionist. Any way, if there is people who never heard of his work before here is his biography.
George Hendrik Breitner was born in Rotterdam in 1857. In 1876, he enrolled at the academy in The Hague. Later, he worked at Willem Maris’s studio. In this early period he was especially influenced by the painters of the Hague School. Breitner preferred working-class models: labourers, servant girls and people from lower-class neighbourhoods. He saw himself as ‘le peintre du peuple’, the people’s painter. In 1886, he moved to Amsterdam, where he recorded the life of the city in sketches, paintings and photos. Sometimes he made several pictures of the same subject, from different angles or in different weather conditions. Photos might serve as an example for a painting, as for his portraits of girls in kimonos, or as general reference material. Breitner often collaborated with Isaac Israels; both painters are referred to as Amsterdam Impressionists. Conservative critics called Breitner’s style ‘unfinished’.
I know I’m not a art critical but this artist is a completely different artist. I found him on tumblr and his art hit me, and I was literally crazy to check out more, when I did I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. With a pen and a paper this guy created an hole world, with a self atmosphere, he gave felling to his drawings.
And I saw a naked girl sleeping, and I thought ‘this is the kind of guy I should date’. I don’t know but I just felt I was seeing the Titanic draw again and I pictured myself as Rose and my lover was Jack. It’s funny but it awake love in my heart, in some way.
